Charity Con Raises Over $600 for Hastings Family Service

The 6th Annual Charity Con took place on Friday, September 19th from 6pm-10pm at the Army National Guard building in Hastings. The event started out as a group of friends renting a hall to watch all of the Star Wars movies, but became a local Star Wars Convention to raise money for Hastings Family Service’s food shelf. Founder and Organizer of Charity Con, Keith Garrick, talks about the evening.

The winners of the costume contest were, first place, 2-year-old Henry Hanson, dressed as Yoda. Second place was 8-year-oldJuliana Ruiz, as Leia, and third place went to Kieran, dressed as Vader. There were lots of kids at the event and 11-year-old, Lucas Hanson, talks about his time there.
