Work Continues on New Prescott High School

Work continues on the new Prescott High School. The building process has drawn questions from the community on the student capacity and we received information from the Prescott School district that addresses those questions. The school is being built to accommodate 450 students with seating capacity for 1200 spectators in the gym and 500 spectators in auditorium. Currently, the district, headed by new Superintendent Dr. Rick Spiccuza, lacks dedicated performance space and relies on the gyms of the elementary and Middle schools to accommodate plays, concerts and other community gatherings. Planning for the new building included designing core areas (like the cafeteria) for up to 600 in capacity so they can be useful as enrollment increases over time. The design also includes plans for adding classrooms in the future, if warranted by enrollment increases. It is being built in phases, and we will bring you more information as progress proceeds.
