City to Issue GO Bonds for RFR Bill

City Councilmember Lori Braucks introduced the following resolution intending to issue 2.6 million dollars in General Obligation Bonds determined to be necessary to finance the Riverfront Renaissance Improvements. The official process requires publication of the proposal to give the public opportunity to oppose the resolution. At least 5 percent of the voting total of the last election would need to sign a petition against the issuance of the bonds. The notice was first published on August 15th in the Hastings Star Gazette and appeared again, as required in this week’s paper. The resolution has not been challenged by petition as of this broadcast. The move is now able to proceed with action to be announced at the September 6th City Council meeting. Details on a timeline or how the process will be rolled out is not known at this time. We have asked for more information from the city which will be provided on an upcoming broadcast.
