Cannon Falls Crime Chase

A real life car chase that seemed straight off the pages of a movie script were indeed real on Monday morning in several locations near Cannon Falls. Officer Marc Fluhrer responded to a report of a pickup towing a car trailer with the ramps down. He discovered an accident scene between a semi truck and a classic car, with the car’s driver running from the vehicle. Moments later, the vehicle and trailer, from the report, pass the officer turning sharply before accelerating, causing a gun safe to tumble from the pickup bed and land in the ditch. Officer Fluhrer returns to his squad in pursuit of the pickup. He finds that vehicle crashed, with the driver fleeing , again on foot. Chief Jeffery McCormick also responds to the event, finding a 3rd vehicle near a farmhouse, one that turns out was in the process of being stolen. That driver crashed after a highspeed trip thru the City Lot, ending at the Golf Course, resulting in his being transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. A State Helicopter and a K-9 Unit was then brought in to find another suspect still on the run. Information was then received that an area resident had provided a ride to a male to a residence south of Cannon Falls. Officers went to that address and found the 4th suspect. Dakota county Sheriff Deputies then determined the first vehicle had indeed been stolen as well as the gun safe that had been ejected during the chase. The pickup on the run was also stolen. No word yet on the identities of those involved or where they were from. More details
