Native Performer Comes To Prescott

On Friday, November 11th Prescott will be hosting a very special performance by highly acclaimed Native American musician, Darren Thompson. Darren Thompson is an educator, public speaker, facilitator, and Native American flute player from the Lac du Flambeau Ojibwa Indian Reservation in Northern Wisconsin. He has spent most of his adult life serving communities through leadership development, American Indian cultural awareness workshops, and the arts. He is one of Crazy Horse Memorials main performers and the opening act of Brul’s summer concert series in the Black Hills. He has received numerous awards for his work. Most recently, his second album, Between Earth and Sky, earned Darren a Native American Music Award Nomination for Flutist of the Year in 2016.During the day on November 11, Darren Thompson will perform for Prescott students and participate in various Veterans Day events. At 7:00 p.m., he will provide a public concert at the new Prescott High School Auditorium. His performance will include music as well as stories about his Native American culture.Prescott School District is very excited to host this amazing opportunity with the help of community sponsors. The concert is free to the public and sponsored by Prescott Schools, Prescott Arts Commitment Team (PACT), Malone and Middle School Parent Committees, Prescott Kiwanis, and First National Bank.
