Cottage Grove Council Examines BNSF Impact

A formal letter was approved to be sent from the Cottage Grove City Council to the BNSF Railroad company as they move forward with the relocation of a major automotive transfer facility on land recently sold by a private individual. The area will involve several area communities including Newport, Grey Cloud Island and St. Paul Park in addition to Cottage Grove. The letter addresses the transport traffic that could involve as many as 60 trucks moving each day thru agricultural and possibly, residential properties. Mayor Myron Bailey has sent a letter to the railroad on the projected impact on environment, residents, traffic and other concerns including a recent notice of the potential for this traffic to involve Highway 95. The Mayor is asking for the Railroad’s cooperation and communication in this rapidly evolving project.
