Friends in Hastings were informed that the former Executive Director of Hastings Family Service, Janet Nielsen Gratz, passed away in Tucson Arizona, on April 18th. Gratz was a mathmatics teacher before taking the top position as head of Hastings Family Service from twenty years, beginning in 1984. A longtime resident of Hastings, Janet was a member of the AAUW, and also received several awards, including Businesswoman of the Year in Hastings, and the Helen Keller Sight Award from the Hastings Lions Club. A celebration of life service will take place at a later date and her obituary requests that memorials benefit Hastings Family Service.
