Amber Alert 15th Year

On Thursday, May 25th, I had the priviledge of interviewing a Minnesota mother who has spent 28 years in the unintended spotlight as a spokesperson and also as a victim of a heineous act that took place in October of 1989. In a conference room at the Minnesota offices of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, I spoke with Patty Wetterling on National Missing Children’s Day. The reason for our conversation, to bring awareness of the effectiveness of the Amber Alert program, to discuss how it has evolved in the last 15 years and how important it is to distribute time critical information following the abduction or disappearance of a child. Mrs. Wetterling shared how the Amber Alert has changed over the years.
