The Hastings City Council is expected to adopt a joint powers agreement with Dakota County and the Dakota County Community Development Agency to create the Dakota Broadband Board. The board would be responsible for oversight of the Dakota County Institutional Network, termed a fiber backbone allowing members of the Dakota County Institutional Network to connect their networks and improve efficiency. The Broadband Board would not have the authority to issue general obligation bonds, or to levy taxes. The Joint Powers Resolution has been placed on the Consent Agenda for the November 20th meeting of the Hastings City Council.
