HFD Puts New Boat Into Service

The Hastings Fire Department has placed a recently purchased inflatable boat into service. The boat replaces a small aluminum boat from the 1970s, and now Fire Department and EMS staff have improved ability to respond to calls on all 3 local rivers, and other small bodies of water. The new boat has a capacity to improve for swift water, ice rescue, quick responses for medical calls on waterways, and flood waters. According to Department leadership, the boat’s stability, and versatility make it a safe and stable rescue and response platform, that was not available with the old boat. The new inflatable boat was purchased with funds donated by Affinity Credit Union, and the departments thank them for the generous donation, and increasing their capabilities to respond safely to water incidents.
