At Monday evening’s Hastings City Council meeting, the Council held a discussion of an agenda item regarding Hastings’ request to Dakota County regarding incentives to offset local costs for solid waste collection. During the course of the discussion, Council member Mark Vaughan questioned the action of Council member Tina Folch in seconding a motion for approval of the agenda item, as she is employed by the City of Red Wing, where Hastings’ solid waste is processed. KDWA has attempted to contact Council member Vaughan regarding his concerns, but he has not responded.
