On June 5th, Don Slaten announced that he will run for the Minnesota House of Representatives District 54B seat. District 54B includes Hastings, Afton, Denmark, and Nininger Townships, as well as a portion of Cottage Grove. For the past 30 years, Slaten has served 5 years on the Hastings Planning Commission, as a Denmark Township Supervisor, Chair of the Denmark Township Board, been on the Washington County Planning Commission, served as Chair of the Senate District 57 DFL, and currently serves as the Vice-Chair of Congressional District 2 DFL. When asked why he decided to run, Slaten had this to say.
