It’s the start of a new calendar year and also time to plan for the 2015/16 school year. Unexpected results from last year’s in kindergarten enrollment was welcome news to District 200. On his weekly KDWA radio show, Superintendent Collins gave some perspective on incoming kindergarten statistics and the documented effects of all-day kindergarten, especially in the areas of increased vocabulary.
As registration begins for parents of kindergarteners for the upcoming school year, registration forms and instructions can be picked up at the Kennedy, McAuliffe, or Pinecrest open houses which are Tuesday, January 13th and Thursday January 15th from 7:30am to 6:30pm. Information packages include the registration form, a home language questionnaire, proof of early childhood screening, student immunization form and student checklist. Your child’s elementary building is determined based on your home address and ISD 200 elementary attendance boundaries.
All incoming kindergarten students are required to attend early childhood screening prior to beginning kindergarten. If your student has not been screened, please call 651-480-7017 to schedule an appointment.
