John Kline Honors Hastings Residents

Congressman John Kline honored Hastings residents last week for their acts of generosity at his ninth annual “Star of the North” ceremony. The Star of the North recipients received Congressional Certificates of Recognition during the ceremony at Kenwood Trail Middle School in Lakeville. The honorees include Michelle Johnson for Regina Hospital’s program that offered prizes to local kids for turning in their Halloween candy, which was sent to Armed Forces serving overseas; Gaby Postiglione for her effort to provide Hastings Veterans Home and Lewis House residents with artfully decoreated Christmas stockings filled with goodies; Retired First Sargent Shane Hudella founder of Defending The Blue Line, a non-profit organization that helps military families with the high costs of purchasing hockey equipment; Amy Rotty and the Klover Klub 4-Hers for their fundraising for leukemia patient Mikayla Olsen; Calvary Christian Church of Hastings, in support of Samaritans Purse and Operation Christmas Child, that collected clothing, school supplies, toys and hard candies for children in need and Mac McGoon Portrait Design Studio for fundraising for Regina Hospitals birthing center. The Star of the North Congressional Award was created to recognize the extraordinary acts of service and the random acts of kindness performed by Minnesotans in the 2nd District.
