Upcoming City Council Actions

The Hastings City Council committees will continue their duties with follow-up from a variety of proposals. The Hastings Planning Committee members Alongi, Braucks and Vaughan, will meet on Thursday to discuss a potential annexation of 5 to 10 acres located directly west of Wal-Mart on Highway 55. Allina Hospital is seeking to acquire and annex the land to construct a medical office building. The Administration committee of Schultz, Balsanek and Vaughan, met on May 5th to discuss potential changes in ordinances that would allow for sidewalk cafes on City sidewalks and rights-of-way. Their recommendations will be forwarded at the May 18th Council meeting for further consideration. Several downtown businesses have requested the variance with the increased popularity of dining alfresco.
