Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Tyler Christensen, age 22 of Apple Valley, has been charged with one count each of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree (With Intent), Assault in the First Degree (Great Bodily Harm), and Assault in the Second Degree (Dangerous Weapon) in connection with allegations that he repeatedly stabbed his mother at their home on June 1st, in Apple Valley. Backstrom commented: “This was a violent attack with a dangerous weapon that has left the victim clinging to life.” Backstrom also praised the Apple Valley Police Department for their quick and thorough investigation into this matter. Christensen made his first appearance in court Wednesday and bail in the amount of $300,000 (with conditions) was set by Dakota County District Court Judge Jerome Abrams. Christensen’s next court appearance is set for August 3rd at 1:30pm in Hastings.
