Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Jason Alexander Lott, age 37 of Burnsville, was charged on June 17th with one count of Attempted Intentional Second Degree Murder, one count of Assault in the First Degree and two counts of Assault in the Second Degree in connection with the violent stabbing of his former girlfriend and his attempt to stab her 14-year-old daughter on June 16th, in Burnsville. Backstrom stated that the victim told police that she and Lott had been in a prior relationship and he was the father of one of her children. When emergency help arrived, the victim was rushed to a hospital where she underwent surgery for her injuries. Burnsville Police were unable to immediately locate Lott. A warrant for his arrest was issued and his car was found by law enforcement in Indiana. He was apprehended Thursday morning around 2:00am in Indiana after a brief standoff. He will be extradited back to Minnesota to face these charges.
