Members of the Prescott Kiwanis held their 19th annual fishing contest on Saturday morning, with almost 70 youngsters lining the east bank of the St. Croix River eager to pull in a whopper, or perhaps just their first fish. The goal of the event is to provide fun and education for area youth.
We talked with several members of the club, all focused on making the event a fun one for families. Carol Lehman has attended every fishing event. He fills us in on what part parents play in the process.
We also asked Lori Schmit which fish brought the most response from the kids.
Several high school students , part of the fishing club, also leant a hand to offer advice or help add bait to a bobbered line.
Each youngster would receive a prize regardless of their fish total, but this angler, Eloise, hauled up a nice little bass while we looked on.
