In February of this year, Hastings City Engineer Nick Egger was promoted to Public Works Director. Since that time, city staff has struggled to find a qualified candidate to fill the position. They will now be requesting proposals from civil engineering firms for contracting out city engineering services through the end of 2017. City Engineering services are a key element in the Public Works Department. The City Engineer is responsible for oversight of the design and management of street and utility construction projects, erosion control inspections, development site grading verification, and regulation of construction within the street right-of-way and easments. This position supervises all engineering staff and is a liason with the city council and the public.
