Man Who Stole MNDOT Truck Now In Custody

A man is now in custody following the theft of a DOT pickup truck from a site in Hastings. Gregory H. Wiley, Jr. age 33 of Inver Grove Heights, took the truck, left unattended by a road worker and headed north on Hwy 61 where Cottage Grove and St. Paul Park police made visual contact with the truck as it traveled at about 55 miles per hour toward the ramp to exit east to Interstate 494. Captain Greg Rinzel of the Cottage Grove Police Department tells us what happened.

Wiley has been charged with felony auto theft and fleeing a peace officer. Captain Rinzel describes the tactic which eventually resulted in the arrest.

The Minnesota State Patrol and Woodbury police departments also played a role in the pursuit or apprehension which ended before the vehicle could travel onto I-494.
