Fugitive Captured In Hampton

Two days of running, hiding, assault, theft and other criminal damage finally came to a halt when Faribault Police and local authorities using a SWAT type Bearcat vehicle managed to arrest 32 year-old Joshua Paul Barron of Hampton. Adding to a long criminal history including attempted murder, fleeing a police officer, theft of at least two vehicles, weapons charges, and numerous assault and drug charges, authorities were able to track Barron to a Hampton residence on Wednesday and police credit several law enforcement agencies using their combined resources to finally ending the string of crimes charged against the man. Barron was involved in a series of events involving stolen vehicles, several damaged cars, and the ramming of a police squad in the first escape last week near Northfield. He was also charged with felony damage in a Dakota County case and had received a five and a half year sentence in 2004 for manufacturing meth in Washington county. A December arrest, again for drug manufacture and firearm charges, resulted in Barron being released on 50 thousand dollars bond, although he was a known flight risk. Charges are now pending in several counties and Barron is in custody at the Dakota County Jail.
