Hastings Music Program at State Convention

This was a very busy weekend for students and teachers in the music programs all over the state. The Minnesota Music Educators met in Minneapolis for the annual convention weekend of concerts, symposiums and training sessions. Instrumental and vocal highlights included All State Choir, Symphonic Band and All State Orchestra which took place on the stage at Orchestra Hall. All are auditioned groups, which were selected last spring. Among those from Hastings who participated were Sarah Hardy, in the women’s choir, James McCord, Yohan Morales and Alex Poncelet in the Men’s choir, and Matt Leifeld and Wyatt Kruse were in the Mixed Choir. Representing Hastings in Symphonic Band was Katherine McCord on French horn and Krista Gomez performed in the Orchestra. This is a prestigious opportunity requiring a lot of preparation as evidenced by this year’s juniors and sophomores already preparing for next year’s all state auditions.(Photos provided by Kari McCord)
