Hastings YMCA Tests Expansion Plan

In an update to a story we first brought you at the beginning of February, the Hastings YMCA has submitted a proposed site plan to the Planning Commission for a significant expansion to their existing facility. The plan, which was brought back to the planning commission on Monday, calls for the addition of thirteen thousand five hundred square feet for gym and studio space .(*Note-in our first reporting of this story, we concluded from documents provided by the Planning Commission, that expansion of the parking area was also necessary, however, that is not the case. The existing parking will be deemed adequate for the needs including the expansion 12:00 pm, 2/24/16.)
The addition is designed to be located on the south side of the existing structure. Executive Director Derrick Jaeger provides an overview and timeline of the plan.
