Prescott Mayor Examines School Cuts

Last night’s Prescott School board drew a large audience as they began the discussion of cuts necessary in the district to pare the coming school year’s budget by almost 1 and a half million dollars. In an interview you heard here on KDWA, Superintendent Spicuzza explained the need for placing deferring on dreams and considering all items on the table for reduction. KDWA contacted Mayor David Hovel just prior to the meeting and asked him to weigh in on the situation.

I also wanted to know what effects he felt the cuts may have on the city as a whole.

Hovel also stated more sharing of resources may come of this situation.

The school board will consider the suggestions made at the recent meeting and KDWA has extended an opportunity for them to return to our studios when they have made their decisions on what will stay and what will go.
