Show Choir Weekend Results

KDWA made a trip to Fridley on Saturday to watch the Hastings Show Choirs participate in the Totino Grace Show Choir Spectacular. All three choirs performed, Upstage and Divaz in Class A and Riverside in double A Division. Preliminary results awarded Upstage Revolution the runner up in A Division with Divaz as second runner up. Kathy Blissnebach, who has a solo in Divaz was crowned best Female soloist in that class. Upstage Band, led by director Michelle Braun, received the best band in the prep division as well. Riverside Company competed in the Finals against some very polished competition including Bemidji Vocalmotion and St. Francis Bridge Street Singers. Bridge Street is directed by another Warren, Kathy and Lin’s son Lukas, who provided a look at their continuing musical lineage that concentrates on a formidable work ethic and excellent choral foundations. A packed gymnasium of almost 1,000 people went virtually silent as the top two choirs were set to see if Riverside could continue it’s wining ways. For those who follow this group, you can now count on one hand, how many Grand Championships that Riverside Company has received this season, and you will have a hand FULL. Named Grand Champion for the 5 th consecutive time in as many competitions, the choir also received Best Vocals , Best Choreography and Best Crew accolades sending all to rush the stage to hoist the 6 foot tall trophy. KDWA has posted a small video clip on our Facebook Page, to give you an idea of the excitement factor. The two prep choirs have now completed their season, but will perform in the Finale shows, which take place on March 29th at the High School. Riverside Company has just one week to prepare for their final competition, one that will bring the top Midwest contenders to Wheaton Warrenville High school in Illinois, on March 12th, to pull out all the stops against the best of the best. And we’ll have news of that competition as it happens here on KDWA.
