Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced late Tuesday that 29 year old Erik Michael Akervik, a former Burnsville High School music teacher and Choir director at Mount Olivet church, violated the terms of release made following charges that accuse Akervik of 3rd Degree Criminal Sexual conduct and Electronic Solicitation of a Child. Akervik made his first appearance on those charges on April 12. A 100 thousands dollar bail was set including the conditions that he have no contact with minors under the age of 18. It was discovered, however, that Akervik contacted a 15 year old boy on social media, asking him to follow the former teacher on Instagram. An arrest warrent was then obtained with Akervik turning himself into the Dakota County Jail on Tuesday. His next appearance on the most recent charge will be Thursday, May 4th.
