A body discovered near the confluence of the Mississippi and St.Croix Rivers in Prescott on October 19th has, initially, been ruled a suicide. The body was found by an employee of Leos Landing around noon and investigating authorities, including Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies and Prescott police, located an abandoned vehicle at a nearby municipal parking lot. A check of the vehicle revealed it belonged to a Ramsey County, MN woman who had been reported missing. Investigators have since confirmed the car belonged to the woman whose body was found. The womans identity was not released but authorities have indicated her family has been notified. The preliminary cause of death appears to be drowning but investigators are awaiting toxicology results. KDWA asked Prescott Police department on Wednesday to comment on the reason for a nearly week-long delay in the release of the initial information and are awaiting a response. The investigation, led by Pierce county, was not included in the Prescott weekly review media report that is provided to local media sources.
