City Faces Lawsuit

A lawsuit naming the City of Prescott, the Prescott Police Commission and Interim Police Chief Robert Funk was made public in Pierce County Circut Court as two former police officers have taken legal measures in response to what they say is proof that violations in procedure led to their August termination. Representation for former Officers Bryan Massman and Ryan Most, filed the suit dated October 16th that lists several actions including a grievance process that was not followed by administration, that the city’s decision was arbitrary, unreasonable and oppressive, that the city breached the labor contract in their firing and that just cause was not provided in their termination. The suit also contends that the Police Commission and Funk, specifically, acted outside of their jurisdiction. The suit did not list a monetary amount requested and the city, commission and Intrim Chief Funk will have 20 days to respond to the complaint.
