The city council for Prescott will meet this evening, Monday, October 23rd,at the Municipal Building, 800 Borner Street,beginning at 6:30. After public comments have been heard, a consent agenda will be presented for approval. Three items are found on that agenda including the approval of the minutes from the October 9th meeting, finance committee meeting minutes and those from the personnel committee meeting of October 19th. Reports from committees will be held next including one for the Public works committee, the planning commission, Parks and public property , and License committee, which will consider the approval of a new operator’s license application by Jaimaca Lynch of Hastings in the sale and service of alcoholic beverages within the city of Prescott, a requirement by city ordinance.
Next on the agenda is a report by the finance committee to address a request to put a moritorium on payment of impact fees for single and twin homes until july 31st of 2018. The action was suggested by the finance committee to possibly increase additional building in the cith. They also wish to approve a resolution that would increase the rate for stormwater utility. The health and safety committee will seek approval from the council for the purchase of a truck for the Prescott Area Fire Department. The Ordinance committe will seek a first reading with possible waiving of a second and 3rd reading and approval of the imposition of a room tax at the rate of 8%. This tax would be reflected on receipts from furnishing of rooms or lodging provided by hotel and motel operators and any others furnishing accommodations available to the transient public.
Communications will then be read with discussion of possible new business. Approval will also be sought fo the appointment of Stephanie Boden to the Prescott Public Library Board. Trick or treat hours will also be set for the city between 5 and 8 pm on Tuesday, October 31st. Public comments will then be accepted. The council will then go into closed session to consider wages for non-union and exempt employees, which was brought by the personnel committee. Council will then return to open session to take action on the items discussed. That would conclude the Prescott City Council meeting. The next meeting is scheduled for November 13th at 6:30 pm.
