Real Estate Equities held an initial community open house to introduce the idea of a new senior housing project in Schoolhouse Square. The meeting, held on October 1st, presented preliminary plans for a 117,000-square-foot development in between the Schoolhouse Square retail center and several townhomes on Ramsey Street. The proposal includes under and above ground parking, one- and two-bedroom units, and various amenities like a fitness room and a rooftop patio, according to Patrick Ostrom, a development partner with Real Estate Equities. The developers have yet to officially bring the development to city staff and the City Council, but hope to do so within 60 to 75 days. If approved, acquisition of the land would commence, and construction would ideally begin in late 2020 and the residence would open the following year.
