The Minnesota House Capital Investment Committee visited Hastings on Tuesday, and learned first-hand about two projects that Hastings is attempting to complete. The Committee started the tour at Hope Lutheran Church on Michael Avenue, at Highway 316. The committee, riding on a Minnesota Coaches Bus, experienced the increased traffic flow at the intersections of 316, and Tuttle and Tiffany Drives, and Representative Tony Jurgens stated that Committee members were concerned with the amount of traffic, and the lack of pedestrian walkways in the area. At City Hall, the Committee heard from City Planner Justin Fortney regarding the need to restore the dome on City Hall, a project that has been backed by Representative Jurgens for the last two years. While no definitive assurances were provided, both Rep. Jurgens and Hastings Mayor Mary Fasbender indicated that they appreciated having the Committee see first hand what the City is trying to accomplish.
