The new Riverfront Park at The Confluence is taking shape. A new and wider riverfront trail was constructed last week and is open for hikers and bikers. Limestone retaining walls are nearly complete and work continues on the Mississippi River overlook. Site landscaping began this week with shrub and tree plantings. A new concrete trail has been poured linking the Mississippi River Trail to the overlook and amenities of The Confluence. According to the City Hall Update, development of The Confluence is the fulfillment of over 10 years of work by the City of Hastings, HEDRA, and site developer Confluence Development. The project is made possible through $4.9 million in grant funding through Metropolitan Council, Dakota County Community Development Agency, the US EPA, and the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. Completion of the project is anticipated in late 2020.
