Bigham Comments On Session

On Friday, the Minnesota Senate adjourned without taking action on a bonding bill, the local distribution of the federal CARES Act, or significant criminal justice and policing reform. In response, Senator Karla Bigham released the following statement. “Minnesotans expected us to come together and finish the work demanded of us. Instead, the Senate GOP majority adjourned without taking the necessary action to fulfill our responsibilities to our constituents. There is no excuse for leaving without finishing our work on these issues. We must come together and get our work done on a strong bonding bill that invests in our infrastructure to help Minnesota’s economy and create jobs. We must also ensure that our local units of government receive a fair distribution of the federal CARES Act funding so our communities are not left on the hook for COVID-19 expenses. Finally, tens of thousands of Minnesotans who marched in the streets of our communities throughout the state are asking us to enact meaningful policing and criminal justice reforms. Leaving these items incomplete fails to answer the demands of our communities to achieve progress and advance the opportunity to move Minnesota forward.”
