The candidate filing period for the November General Election closed on Tuesday, and the City of Hastings reports that four current City Council members are running for reelection. In Ward 1, Tina Folch is running unopposed, in Ward 2, incumbent Joe Balsanek will face competition from candidates Philip Biermaier and Jen Fox, and Lisa Leifeld for Ward 3 and Trevor Lund for Ward 4 will run unopposed. All of the candidates attended an informational meeting at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, and candidates have until 5 PM on Thursday, June 4th to decide if they wish to withdraw from candidacy.
