Chambers Ask Walz To Reopen Business

The Chambers of Commerce for Apple Valley, Burnsville, Hastings, and the River Heights area have sent a letter to MN Governor Tim Walz imploring him to consider a complete rollback of customer restrictions for small businesses, allowing them to reopen with proper safety guidelines in place. According to the letter, for the past nine weeks, small businesses have been closed to keep the health and safety of Minnesotans a top priority, but with neighboring states opening, Minnesotans have the incentive to find recreational, entertainment and travel needs fulfilled outside MN. The Chambers state that this turn of events undermines Minnesota’s hospitality industry, and also encourages greater spread of COVID-19 through distant travel. The letter concludes by asking Governor Walz to establish a concrete and rapid timeline for opening business now while reminding Minnesotans of their personal responsibility in keeping Minnesota safe.
