During a meeting on August 18th, the Hastings Heritage Preservation Commission reviewed a request for new 2nd story porch windows on a structure in the 300 block of 2nd Street West. According to the meeting minutes, City Planner Justin Fortney presented the staff report, and Commissioners commented that the proposed windows seemed to match the porch without throwing off its balance with the first floor. During the course of the discussion of the report, Commissioner Christina Johnson cautioned the applicant that the space could be susceptible to high humidity in any season if ventilation is not maintained. The Commission recommended approval of the request by a 6-0 vote. The request now moves to the City Council for further action.
