Work continues on the Hastings Chlorine Systems Implementation. According to the City Newsletter, all plumbing, mechanical, and electrical work has been completed at all five water distribution facilities. The City’s contractors, consultants, and staff are beginning the process of putting this equipment online and replacing the liquid chlorine feed with gas chlorine. This work will continue into next week and the full transition will require some fine tuning as it is put online. This form of disinfection may slightly increase negative taste and odor experiences when compared to liquid chlorine delivery, once everything is fully dialed in and stabilized. However, City staff remind the public that taste and odor experience is still unique to each and every individual in the population.
