At its September 21st meeting, the Hastings City Council approved a housing development for villa-style homes in the northwest area of the city. Community Development Director John Hinzman provided some background on the project.
The Council approved the rezoning of the land, a preliminary plat for a 32-lot subdivision, and a final plat for the first phase of development, which will consist of 16 lots. According to the City Website, the 10-acre property, located at the at the northwest corner of Northridge Drive and Pleasant Drive, is owned by Lawrence Property, LLC, and the developer is Simek Property Group. The property was rezoned from agriculture and single family to medium-high density to accommodate villa-style homes.
