The City of Hastings has begun work for a multiple-step process of making repairs to the section of E 1st Street just east of the railroad bridge and the adjacent river embankment area. Public Works Director Nick Egger provides the background for the repairs.
The work, including removing and replacing the rip rap, and bolstering up the pavement will take a while.
Traffic should still be able to pass through the work zone, and the City expects all work to be complete by late June.
