The Dakota County Board of Commissioners has made the appointment of interim County Attorney Kathy Keena permanent until the end of the current term for the office, which expires at the end of 2022. According to sources, the County finalized the appointment at a meeting earlier this week. Commissioners interviewed Keena and the other finalist, Elizabeth Lamin, an assistant Ramsey County attorney since 2007. Keena replaces Attorney Jim Backstrom who retired earlier in 2021, citing health concerns.
