At 6:02 PM on October 2nd, Miesville Fire was dispatched to Wiobata St. in Red Wing for a mutual-aid vehicle fire. The Red Wing Fire Department requested Miesville Fire and Hastings Fire to respond to the scene as Red Wing had all of their units out on other calls. During the same time of the fire call, Miesville and Hastings units were also on scene of a separate medical call in the area for Red Wing Fire. According to information released by MFD, the vehicle was fully involved, had compressed nitrous oxide on board, and was threatening 4 structures within a few feet of the vehicle. With the help of Prairie Island Police Department, all residents within 500 meters of the scene were evacuated from their homes. On arrival, firefighters began an offensive fire attack while also protecting exposures and had the fire under control within 10 minutes. The garage, house, and outbuildings were all checked for fire extension, and investigation confirmed that the fire was contained to the vehicle. Nobody was hurt during this incident, and residents were allowed to return to their homes within the hour.
