Slattum Sentenced

Dakota County Attorney Kathy Keena announced that Jason Michael Slattum, age 42 of Hastings, was sentenced late on Thursday to 114 months in prison in connection with providing the heroin that caused the drug overdose death of Michelle Cahill, age 50, from Hastings, on July 11, 2020. Slattum pled guilty to one count of Murder in the Third Degree in October of 2021. Keena expressed her sympathy to the family and friends of Ms. Cahill, and thanked Assistant County Attorney Chris Zielinski who prosecuted the case. Keena also praised the Hastings Police Department and the Dakota County Drug Task Force for their investigation into this tragic death.
