Great Balls Of Fire! Flint Hills Maintenance Drawing Attention

It is the talk of the town: the giant stack off Ravenna Trail with the constant ball of fire. It’s a necessary activity after a scary situation last week. The stack is a result of gas flairing activity that has been occurring in the 16000 block of Ravenna Trail. This is essentially a burn off of gas after the repair of the propane leak in Rosemount last week. KDWA has been told that there will be no odors or smells released from this activity, and we have reached out to Flint Hills for more information. We have been told the stack is being staffed 24/7 and there remains no reason for community concern. Flint Hills previously said this gas flairing was necessary to help with the repairs of the leak, and that neighbors would be notified. Hastings Fire was made aware as well, still taking unfounded structure fire calls in the same area because of this. We were not provided a timeline of when the maintenance would conclude. The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office said that this activity was scheduled to start after the leak had been plugged in Rosemount.
