The Prescott School District has announced that Jim Reif will serve as the district’s next superintendent. In a Friday press release, the district announced that Reif will begin the role on July 1. Reif comes to Prescott from New Auburn, where he served as superintendent as well as its high school principal since 2021. He has also held similar roles as principal in Altoona and Menominee Nation and as associate principal in Baraboo and Janesville Craig High School where he spent twelve years as a mathematics teacher. In a statement given to the Prescott School District, Reif said:
?Prescott”s impressive administration and staff have built a learning environment for our students that is in the top 10% in the state. The community members and staff I have been able to meet genuinely care about the achievement and wellbeing of students, as demonstrated by their support of recent building and operating referendums… Similar to Prescott, I grew up in a small town where the school was the center of the community… I look forward to becoming a part of the Prescott community and the voice and leader for students and staff.”
According to the release, Reif plans to spend the summer and fall meeting with local business and community leaders and organizations, as well as parents and community members to learn their vision for their district and what they are most proud of about being a Cardinal.
Reif was confirmed after contract negotiations concluded, at the April 16 meeting. He was selected after an extensive national search which included a community survey, stakeholder interviews, focus groups, students and community membes and visits to the district.
Reif replaces outgoing superintendent Rick Spicuzza, who retires June 30.
