On February 7th the City of Hastings Parks and Recreation Department and Carpenter Nature Center
hosted an ice fishing event at Lake Rebecca. Kids 15 years old and younger were able to try their hand at ice fishing.
KDWA was there and connected with the City of Hastings Recreational Program coordinator, Paige Marschall Bigler, for more information.
The sponsors of the event:
- Dirt Bullies Landscaping provided hot cocoa and warming houses.
- VFW of Hastings for $1000 in fishing gear giveaway.
- Striker Hudson had a drawing for a $900 ice suit.
- Fleet Farm had giveaways, such as much needed hand warmers.
- Hometown Ace Hardware provided the bait.
- Get the Lead Out provided tackle giveaways.
There were volunteers that made this day possible. Marschall Bigler shares about the knowledgeable volunteers and about the recent restoration of Lake Rebecca.
