During the February 23rd Hastings Planning Commission meeting, Community Development Director John
Hinzman presented an overview of the proposed Pleasant Valley Farms. According to the commission memorandum, Pleasant Valley Farms is a potential development of 375 housing units—309 single-family and 66 townhome lots. This 158-acre property is situated between Featherstone Road and County Road 42.
At the Planning Commission meeting, Todd Stutz of Tradition Development offered background information about his company. Commissioners inquired about development details, such as the different housing units, housing prices, number of housing units planned for development each year, zoning, and separation from existing homes. After the presentation, no action was requested, and commissioners seemed supportive of the proposed development.
The Planning Commission meeting ended with Community Development Director John Hinzman providing a summary of the 2025 Annual Report. This annual report is available within the planning commission agenda packet found on the Hastings Government website.
March 9th will be the next Planning Commission meeting.
