City Update: Central Water Treatment Plant Project

The City of Hastings has provided a construction update for the Central Water Treatment Plant Project.

According to the update, during the week of March 16, 2026, drilling equipment is now on site, traffic control was established for work on the boulevard and road, and watermain pipe segments were fused in preparation for drilling.

Scheduled for the week of March 23, the construction crew plans to drill water main pipes along North Frontage Road, from Westview Drive to State Street. Installation will happen in two segments. North Frontage Road will remain accessible; however, traffic may be limited to one lane during construction. According to the City update, the contractor will implement flagger operations as needed to facilitate safe passage for vehicles. The road will be closed to through-traffic during the water main installation.

The City reminds the public to refrain from parking on streets under construction from 7 am to 7 pm. During the construction hours of 7 am to 7 pm access to the road is available but may be delayed. The City kindly reminds the community to follow posted detour and warning signs.
