On Friday morning, May 8, the Coffee With A Cop event took place at Froth and Cork. Folks had the opportunity to
ask questions and provide feedback to the police department. KDWA connected with investigator Chad Schlichte, who explained why it’s important for the Hastings Police Department to have these positive interactions with the community.
“I think the importance for community events are just for the community to come out and get to know the officers themselves as a person and to interact with us, not on, you know, on a call or something like that, just to come and talk, ask us questions, get to know us. We get to know you. And just so you know, we might be driving down the road one day, and we’ll see you, and we can spark another conversation.”
If you missed Coffee With A Cop, the police department has other community events happening soon. The Police
Department open house will be Tuesday, May 12, from 4:30 to 7:30pm as well as a Special Olympics fundraiser at Dunkin’ Donuts called “Cop on a Rooftop.” This is happening May 15, from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.
