The Great River Road is named Best Scenic Drive.
According to a media release from the Mississippi Parkway Commission, for the second year in a row, the Great River
Road named the Best Scenic Drive in America in the 2026 USA Today 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
The Great River Road begins in Itasca, Minnesota and follows the Mississippi River through ten states before ending at Venice, Louisiana.
Mississippi River Parkway Commission Managing Director Susanne Thiede-Barnet says the organization is grateful for the continued support from travelers who explore the roadway each year, whether for a weekend trip or the entire journey.
Thiede-Barnet says the Great River Road offers scenic overlooks, parks, nearly 100 interpretive centers, and vibrant river towns and cities along the Mississippi River, giving travelers “something unforgettable waiting around every bend.”
