Hastings Baseball Holds On Against Park in Section Battle, Other Spring Sports Tuesday Results

The Hastings baseball team gave up an early lead against Park on Tuesday, but would come back and secure a section victory over the Wolfpack 7-5 as heard live on KDWA. The Raiders jumped out to a 5-1 lead that included a two-run homerun by Cole Werner as well as a Carter Lundstrom RBI sacrifice fly and Park errors. Park came storming back however, scoring four unanswered that included a three-run homerun to tie the score at five after the third. Smart baserunning put the Raiders ahead after a first-and-third stolen base attempt ended in a run scored, and another RBI groundout by Peyton Perseke, and Raiders pitchers Zach Simon and Brady Hendrickson stranded six Park baserunners to win the game. Catcher Gunner Skov went 4-4 at the plate, while Hendrickson went 3-4.

Head coach Ryan Stoffel said he liked the way the team didn’t get down on themselves after giving up the early lead.
